Barranda declares for City Council At-Large
Ken Fries to serve as campaign chairman
(February 3, 2015 ) – Before a group of supporters at GOP headquarters Michael Barranda announced the filing of his Declaration of Candidacy for City Council At-Large. Former Allen County Sheriff, Ken Fries, will serve as his Chairman.
Nearly one year ago to the day Barranda announced his first bid for public office — Indiana State Representative. Barranda lost by the narrowest of margins despite a spirited campaign with wide support. “When I first made the commitment to run for office, I promised principled, conservative stances on issues while raising the bar for political discourse. Once again I pledge my commitment. Today we continue that effort.” Barranda would bring a vast array of experience to council. An attorney at Burt, Blee, Dixon, Sutton & Bloom, LLP, he has been active in many facets of the community including serving as Past President of the Young Leaders of Northeast Indiana as well as on the Board of Directors for the Greater Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce, St. Joseph Hospital, Olive B. Cole Foundation and Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne.
Most recently, Barranda was a Founding Governor of the St. Thomas More Society and currently serves on the Executive Committee. He has served local government on the Joint Permitting Oversight Committee, helping to streamline development opportunities. Other volunteer service includes Allen County Right to Life, Building Contractors Association, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Regional Chamber of Northeast Indiana and the Fort Wayne Area PTA. He has been active in the Allen County Republican Party, including being elected as a Precinct Committee Chairman and membership on the Allen County Young Republicans and the Downtown GOP Club. He is supporter of Allen County Right to Life.
He and his wife, Lisa, have two children.
