CLHS teams take top prizes in stock market game

(December 19, 2014) — What would you do if you were given $100,000? Would you spend it all at once? What about investing it in the stock market? Eighteen Concordia Lutheran High School teams took on that challenge, and two came away with top awards in the state.

Through the Indiana Stock Market Game, 119 teams from the region and 1,033 teams from across Indiana competed with $100,000 of virtual money in the stock market. Teams from Concordia’s economics class competed, and two finished Top 10 in the state. The game ran from Sept. 29 through Dec. 5.

According to the Indiana Council for Economic Education, the Stock Market Game helps students learn the financial markets through “the basics of personal investing and enhancing skills learned in math, reading and technology.”
