1 Dead After Head-On Crash
(December 7, 2014) – Investigation Details:
On 12/07/2014 at approximately 0317 hours, the Allen County Sheriff’s Department took a call reporting that a white SUV was driving the wrong way on I-69 near the 299 mile marker. At 0320 hours dispatch took a call reporting a crash on I-69 Southbound at the 299.8 mile marker. Officers and medics arrived on scene. It was apparent that a white SUV was Northbound in the Southbound lanes of I-69 and struck a semi head-on. The male driver (not identified, 23 years old / Fort Wayne, IN) of the white SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. The male driver (not identified, 28 years old / Grand Rapids, MI) of the semi tractor (cab, no trailer) was transported to a local hospital in fair condition. No passengers were present in either vehicle. This crash remains under investigation by the Allen County Sheriff’s Department.
