Internet Prostitution Arrest

NAME #1: Sonnie Marie Thompson, F/B 27, D.O.B. 06-02-1987
CHARGES: Promoting Prostitution (Level 5 Felony)
LOCATION OF INCIDENT: 5810 Challenger Parkway / One East Main Street
TYPE OF INCIDENT: Prostitution Investigation
BRIEF SUMMARY OF INCIDENT and/or ARREST:
On Monday, November 24, 2014, the Fort Wayne Police Department’s Vice & Narcotics Division conducted an internet prostitution sweep, targeting people advertising escort services on an internet website and anyone involved in promoting prostitution. A detective made contact with a woman, who was later arrested for misdemeanor prostitution. During this specific investigation, detectives observed Sonnie Marie Thompson deliver this woman by vehicle to the hotel where the prostitution case occurred. Evidence was later obtained which explicitly showed that Sonnie Marie Thompson was directly involved in promoting prostitution in this case. Sonnie Marie Thompson was arrested on Tuesday, November 25, 2014 and is currently being held without bond for promoting prostitution in this case.
During this prostitution sweep six (6) separate women were arrested for misdemeanor prostitution charges.
During this internet prostitution sweep, the Fort Wayne Police Department’s Vice & Narcotics Unit teamed up with the FWPD Gang and Violent Crimes Unit, Special Agents from the Fort Wayne Office of the FBI, and Nurses from the Allen County Department of Health. The nurses from the Allen County Department of Health offered free sexually transmitted disease testing to all of the arrestees.
