City Utilities Receives International Honor
Water Environment Federation Recognizes Outreach Programs
(October 10, 2014) – The Water Environment Federation, an organization of 36,000 members from around the world, selected Fort Wayne City Utilities for its 2014 Public Education Award in the category of organizations, groups and events. The award recognizes efforts to educate residents about water, sewer and environmental issues.
City Utilities was recognized for its public outreach materials on a variety of topics, such as rain gardens, composting, reducing grease from your drain, keeping non-disposable wipes from your drain, monthly utility bill stuffers as well as outreach efforts at trade shows, community and neighborhood meetings, schools, internship partnerships and business partnerships such being a founding member and sponsor of the Northeast Indiana Sustainable Business Council.
The award was presented earlier this month at the organization’s annual Technical Conference.
Founded in 1928, the Water Environment Federation (WEF) is a not-for-profit technical and educational organization. The organization’s mission is to provide leadership, champion innovation, connect water professionals, and leverage knowledge to support clean and safe water worldwide.
