The United States Army 70th Infantry Division to Hold National Reunion in Fort Wayne
(October 8, 2014) – War heroes and their families will visit Fort Wayne this weekend, as the United States Army 70th Infantry Division will hold its Bi-Annual Reunion at the Holiday Inn @ IPFW and Coliseum from October 9-12.
Over four days, an approximately 100 veterans and their families will celebrate the 70th Infantry’s remarkable past, while exploring different attractions in Fort Wayne.
On Friday, the group of “Trailblazers” will travel to Grabill for an Amish community tour and dinner. The next day, an awards banquet will take place at 6:00 p.m., featuring guest speaker Gene Cogan. Cogan, an Auburn, Indiana native, is a veteran of the 29th Infantry Division, which landed on Omaha Beach on D-Day in 1944.
This is the first time Fort Wayne has hosted the 70th Infantry Reunion, which had been previously held in St. Louis, San Antonio, Chicago, New Orleans and Cincinnati.
