Opportunities Fair Will Highlight Allen County Manufacturers
(September 29, 2014) – A CEO roundtable composed of Allen County manufacturers will host an Allen County Manufacturing Opportunities Fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 4 at Parkview Field.
The event, organized by the manufacturing roundtable, Greater Fort Wayne Inc., and Northeast Indiana Works, is designed to showcase the technologies of area manufacturers as well as current and projected career opportunities in the manufacturing sector.
High school students and other individuals seeking job opportunities in the manufacturing sector are encouraged to attend. The event is free to visitors and will be inside Parkview Field’s Lincoln Event Center behind the right-field wall.
Manufacturing is critical to Allen County’s economy; it is the county’s second-largest employer and average weekly manufacturing wages in the county are almost $300 higher than the average for all industry sectors combined. Moreover, there is currently a robust need for skilled manufacturing talent in Allen County.
“This will be great opportunity for young people and adults to explore exciting careers in the high-tech, growing manufacturing arena,” said Mark Becker, CEO of Greater Fort Wayne Inc. “In northeast Indiana, manufacturing plays a vital role in producing products for numerous industries, including automotive, defense and health care. We need to ensure that pathways to careers in those areas are promoted and easily accessible.”
