News release from INDOT:
Weekend Closure Scheduled for SR 1/Dupont Road Bridge Begins Friday, September 26, at 8 p.m.
Ramps remain open
(September 25, 2014) – Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces the weekend closure for SR 1 / Dupont Road Bridge over I-69 to begin on Friday, September 26, at 8 p.m. The bridge will reopen on Monday, September 29, at 6 a.m. Although the bridge will be closed throughout the weekend, the ramps will remain open.
The official detour uses Auburn Road, Union Chapel Road and Diebold Road.
All lanes on I-69 northbound and southbound, within the work zone, are open and the speed limit is 65 mph.
During the weekend closure, paving through the intersections will be occurring.
After this weekend closure, the traffic pattern will be operating in the new diverging diamond pattern, with one lane in each direction open. By mid-October, the diverging diamond will be operational with two lanes in each direction open to traffic.
Motorists should be aware that the traffic signals at each end of the interchange will be monitored and adjusted as needed.
The diverging diamond interchange is the first of its kind in Indiana. Drivers will cross over to the opposite side of the roadway between two ramps, allowing efficient movements to and from I-69. They will be guided to the left through the interchange with signals, signs and pavement markings.
