Today’s weather story from the National Weather Service:

Thunderstorms and high humidity

(September 5, 2014) – A cold front to the west will be moving through the area this afternoon into tonight. Conditions ahead of the front will be hot and humid as temperatures will climb to around 90 with dewpoints in the lower 70s. This all will provide chances for showers and thunderstorms mainly for this afternoon into tonight. Some of these storms could become severe with damaging winds being the main concern. As a reminder, lightning is always dangerous.

Monitor your activities today as heat index values will reach in the middle 90s. Then either late tonight or tomorrow morning the front will be leaving the area taking the rain with it. High pressure will then move in creating much cooler conditions for Saturday. Cloud coverage will decrease tomorrow with high temperatures expected to be in the lower 70s with dewpoints only in the 50s.
