(September 2, 2014) – Want to avoid a Blue Christmas season this year? Then consider attending a concert where you’ll hear that song and other Christmas favorites sung in the voice of the man who made them famous. O.M.A.R. Presents The Elvis Tribute Artist Christmas Spectacular featuring Elvis Presley tribute artist Shawn Klush. Reviewers say that watching a Shawn Klush concert is like watching the King himself. Shawn was named grand champion at the $25,000, World Elvis Tribute Artist Competition, received The People’s Choice Award from Gibson Guitar Co in Nashville for Best Concert Elvis and was named the “World’s Greatest Elvis” by 6.5 million international viewers on BBC1 Television in the United Kingdom. And on the 30th anniversary of Elvis’ passing, Shawn was named the First Ever Ultimate Elvis Tribute Artist by Elvis Presley Enterprises in Memphis, Tenn.
On stage Shawn will be performing Christmas favorites that The King was best known for such as “Here Comes Santa Claus” and “Blue Christmas” as well as gospel and Elvis favorites with the help of the Sweet Inspirations. This female vocal group was much in demand for music sessions, appeared with Wilson Pickett & Aretha Franklin and had their own hit with the self-title debut Sweet Inspiration. The group came to the attention of the King and their lives were changed forever. You hear the Sweet Inspirations on many of the Kings’ greatest hit records. The Sweet Inspirations was inducted into the R&B Hall of Fame.
And if that wasn’t enough already for a great show, the Blackwood Quartet will be contributing to the fun. It’s legacy started in 1934 in Choctaw County, Miss. The quartet was the first gospel group to sell one million records and is an eight time Grammy Award winner. The Blackwood Quartet has also been inducted into the “Gospel Music Hall of Fame.”
Tickets for The Elvis Tribute Artist Christmas Spectacular will go on sale Sept. 5 at ticketmaster.com, charge-by-phone 800.745.3000 or buy in person at the Embassy box office.
