Barricaded Subject

Date/Time of Incident: 08-27-2014 8:10 AM

Location of Incident: 6700 Verona Drive

Suspect: Michael M Underwood 48

On Wednesday August 27,2014 at approximately 0810 AM, the Fort Wayne Police Department responded to the 2900 block of Lillie Street in reference to a report of shots fired.

As officers arrived in the area, they received information that a subject who was identified as Michael M Underwood 48 had fired shots towards a vehicle and fled the scene in a grey colored vehicle. Officers spotted the vehicle leaving the area and lost sight of the vehicle a short time later. Information given to officers led them to an address located in the 7600 block of Verona Drive.

As officers arrived at this address, they located the suspects vehicle parked outside the residence. A relative that was outside the house spoke with the suspect by telephone who refused to come out of the house. Officers also confirmed that the suspect was inside the residence alone. At this time, officers with the Fort Wayne Police Departments Emergency Services Team and Crisis Response Team were dispatched to the scene. A short time later, the suspect came out of the house and surrendered to police. The suspect was transported from the scene to police headquarters without further incident. The investigation is ongoing and criminal charges are pending.

This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecutors Office.
