More Opportunities to Learn about Sewer Improvement Mandates
Four Open House Sessions Set
(July 8, 2014) – Fort Wayne City Utilities will host four Open House opportunities for residents to ask questions about progress on the Federally unfunded requirement to improve our sewer system and learn more about upcoming projects, how they will be funded, and their impact on sewer rates.
The Open House events offer an opportunity for residents to drop by anytime during the two-hour time span to ask questions of staff members.
Two formal presentation meetings were held last week and a third is coming up next Monday at Northrop High School.
The City is under court order to greatly reduce the number of combined sewer overflows going to our rivers, reduce sewage that backs up into homes, and operate and maintain the sewer system through continued repair and rehabilitation.

1411 E. State Blvd.City Utilities is a not for profit, municipally-owned, utility that does not receive property tax dollars. Ninety percent of the fees collected by City Utilities over the next five years will go into capital improvement projects — construction improvements to the sewer system that will help us meet Federal unfunded mandates and avoid fines and further sanctions. The remaining ten percent will go towards operations and maintenance costs.
