Game recap from the TinCaps:

TinCaps Down Dragons, 9-4

(June 25, 2014) – The best offensive team in the Midwest League continued to rake on Wednesday afternoon at Parkview Field, as the TinCaps beat the Dayton Dragons, 9-4. Fort Wayne, which leads the 16-team league in runs, hits, and total bases among other categories, pounded out double-digit hits for the second day in a row and won its third straight.

Just 13 hours after rallying from five runs down on Tuesday night to win in walk-off fashion, 10-9, a pair of two-run deficits for the TinCaps on Wednesday was relatively easy to overcome. Down 4-2 entering the bottom of the fourth inning, Fort Wayne (4-2, 34-41) scored twice to tie and then put up three runs in the home fifth to grab the lead. From there, the TinCaps never looked back.

Eight of the nine hitters in the lineup had at least one hit. That counts Jake Bauers and Adolfo Reina, who both had three-hit days. Bauers had a double and drove in a pair of runs, while Reina hit his third home run of the season — his second in three games — and plated three.

Fort Wayne’s offensive success came largely against Dayton (1-5, 37-37) All-Star starter Sal Romano (4-7). The right-hander couldn’t hold leads of 2-0 and 4-2, as he surrendered seven runs (six earned) on nine hits in four-plus innings. He walked two and struck out two.

TinCaps starter Erik Cabrera (3-5) wasn’t overly impressive either, but did enough through five innings to receive the win. Cabrera allowed four runs (three earned) on nine hits and a walk. He struck out four.

Fortunately for Fort Wayne, though, the bullpen proved to be reliable. Justin Livengood tossed two scoreless frames, while Eric Yardley worked a hitless eighth inning and Josh Richardson recorded the final three outs.

The TinCaps aim to sweep the Dragons at Parkview Field on Thursday night at 7:05 in the finale of their three-game set. Kyle Lloyd will start for the TinCaps against Jackson Stephens of the Dragons. The game can be heard on ESPN Radio 1380, TheFanIndiana.com, and on the TuneIn Radio app. It can also be seen on XFINITY Channel 81, as well as on MyTV 33.2.
