IOPO to Reward Winner of Mad Ants Get Fit Challenge with $1,000
(May 6, 2014) – The Fort Wayne Mad Ants presented by the Lutheran Health Network and Indiana Organ Procurement Organization (IOPO) announced today that Cedar Canyon Elementary School is the winner of the Mad Ants 2013-14 Get Fit Challenge. Cedar Canyon Elementary will receive a $1,000 prize to be used for fitness, athletic, or health education equipment.
The Mad Ants Get Fit Challenge is a program that encourages children and their parents to lead active and healthy lifestyles. The Challenge consisted of the Mad Ants putting on fitness assemblies at area schools over the past school year and encouraging the students to be active for at least thirty minutes a day for thirty straight days. Students were given an activity log to keep track of their progress and any student who completed the challenge received a free ticket to a Mad Ants game. Twenty-seven area schools participated in the Challenge.
The Mad Ants and IOPO will present a check to the school on Wednesday May, 7 at 2:00pm to Cedar Canyon Elementary P.E. Teacher Kristy Moeller during a school assembly. Cedar Canyon Elementary had the highest completion rate of the challenge per student out of the participating schools.
Indiana Organ Procurement Organization (IOPO), a non-profit health service, is the vital link between people waiting for a transplant and potential donors. As a community service, IOPO sponsors school programs that teach students about the human body, healthy choices, and helping others.
