BAE Systems Celebrates Groundbreaking of New Fort Wayne Facility
(May 2, 2014) — BAE Systems broke ground today on its new world-class aviation electronics manufacturing center of excellence in Fort Wayne. The new 334,000-square-foot facility will be located at the Northwest Corner of Airport Expressway and Ardmore Avenue, and is designed to provide the company with additional space for future growth. Construction on the facility is expected to be completed by mid-2015, and is expected to be occupied by the end of 2015
“Our goal for this new manufacturing facility is to create an environment where we can continue delivering industry-leading products to our customers in the most efficient way possible,” said Bob Hoffman, director of operations at BAE Systems in Fort Wayne. “The Airport Expressway site allows us to do that while retaining our highly skilled Fort Wayne workforce.”
BAE Systems’ Fort Wayne operations produce engine controls and flight controls for commercial and military aircraft, and flight deck systems, cabin systems, electrical distribution, and wiring harnesses for commercial aircraft. The company employs more than 1,000 people in Fort Wayne in engineering, management, operations, and production positions.
