Parkview Health named title sponsor for 28th Annual Festival of Gingerbread
(November 11, 2013) – The History Center has announced Parkview Health as the title sponsor for the 2013 Festival of Gingerbread.
Now in its 28th year, this fund raiser for the museum brings edible creations by local artists to the museum during the holidays as well as special weekend programs. The deadline for entering the competition which is open to all ages and abilities has been extended to November 15.
Special holiday exhibits during the Festival include a Wolf and Dessauer display of animatronic characters and an exhibit of “A Christmas Carol” watercolors that once adorned the Patterson Fletcher Department Store. Persons visiting the museum will also have the opportunity to view the new exhibition gallery Allen County Innovation.
On Lighting Night, November 27, visitors can get a sneak peek at the handiwork of creators from 5 to 9 p.m. Admission is only $2 a person at the door. At 5:15 p.m. the History Center’s turret will be the first building lit in downtown with special holiday colors of red and green. Santa will also be present on Lighting Night.
AEP/Indiana Michigan Power will once again underwrite a free night at the Festival on Tuesday, December 3, from 5 to 9 p.m.
A variety of special events will occur on weekends during the Festival of Gingerbread. Admission is $5 adults ages 19-58, $3 for seniors ages 59+ and students ages 3-18, and free to children age 2 and under. There is no extra charge for special activities or events unless indicated. Admission also includes the opportunity to visit the entire museum.

Cookie Decorating Party
Decorate gingerbread cookies! $1 each, plus regular museum admissionHours during the Festival of Gingerbread are Monday through Thursday 9 am to 5 pm; Friday 9 am to 8 pm; Saturday 9 am to 5 pm; and Sunday Noon to 5 pm. The History Center will be closed Thanksgiving Day.
