News release from the TekVenture:
Fort Wayne Regional Maker Faire® this weekend!
(September 11, 2013) – The 3rd Annual Fort Wayne Regional Maker Faire® – Powered by TekVenture (www.makerfairefortwayne.com) is a 2-day family-friendly event occurring September 14 & 15, 10-6 pm each day at Headwaters Park East under the Lincoln Pavilion. This event is a benefit for TekVenture (www.tekventure.org), a public art and technology lab being built in Fort Wayne.
Maker Faire is a family fun festival to make, create, learn, invent, craft, recycle, build, think, play & be inspired by celebrating arts, crafts, engineering, food, music, science and technology.
Maker Faire is the Greatest Show (and tell) on Earth – a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the Maker movement. It’s a place where people show what they are making, and share what they are learning.
Makers range from tech enthusiasts to crafters to homesteaders to scientists to garage tinkerers. They are of all ages and backgrounds. The aim of Maker Faire is to entertain, inform, connect, and grow this community. The event will include attractions to draw public interest; hands-on learning opportunities such as a soldering workshop and how to weld; TinkerTown, a place for young makers 4 -14; food for purchase and entertainment by area bands. Tickets are available online (www.makerfairefortwayne.eventbrite.com) or at the event.
Maker Faire Fort Wayne is produced locally in collaboration with MAKE, a quarterly magazine documenting the national maker movement. There will be over 100 Maker Faires around the globe in 2013.

About TekVenture
TekVenture is a public art and technology laboratory being developed in the near downtown area. The goal is to create a public intersection between imagination, technology, art & community – a space where artisans, tinkers, makers, engineers, inventors, prototypers, craftspeople, and others gather to use tools, share ideas and make things. In partnership with the Allen County Public Library, TekVenture (www.tekventure.org) is now operating in the Maker Station, a 50′ trailer housing a variety of tools where aspiring Makers may access prototyping tools while learning about the design to fabrication cycle.About MAKE
MAKE (https://makezine.com/) is much like a 21st Century Popular Mechanics and is the first magazine devoted entirely to Do-It-Yourself (DIY) technology projects. MAKE unites, inspires, informs, and entertains a growing community of resourceful people who undertake amazing projects in their backyards, basements, and garages. MAKE celebrates your right to tweak, hack, and bend any technology to your will.
