News release from TekVenture:
Maker Faire is the Greatest Show (and tell) on Earth!
(August 21, 2013) – The 3rd Fort Wayne Regional Maker Faire® is just under a month away. Makers are registering, comp tickets are being given to radio stations for giveaways, kids are back to school, the summer weather is waning, and we are getting so excited.
Join us 10 am – 6 pm on Saturday & Sunday, September 14 & 15 at Headwaters Park East – Lincoln Pavilion. We currently have 8 states involved with our project this year and believe this number will grow. Over 80 Makers have registered or said they are coming, in addition to our Attractions, Demonstrations, Performers and Racers.
Guests will again get to see alternative fuel vehicles, robots and professional BMX demonstrations. As importantly, people have the chance to talk to Makers while seeing their interesting projects and learning about the tools, materials and processes used.
Eight teams have registered to race in the Fort Wayne stop of the Power Racing Series, a circuit featuring adults riding modified kids’ electric ride-on vehicles. Saturday includes 4 race categories. It’s been said that after an endurance race on Sunday, many of the teams are going at The Race, straight-track drag racing through obstacles of sand, gravel, mulch and water. We have space and expect more teams to register so come see the team spirit and fun of adults competing in this untraditional form. It’s so much fun we have a volunteer coming from Seattle, WA to help with racing throughout the weekend! Thanks Tamara!
There is something for everyone at Maker Faire. Food for purchase, entertainment provided by local bands, and an assortment of other unique activities and experiences can be found at Maker Faire. The bonus is getting to learn how Makers of the region and beyond go about turning their ideas into reality.
Mark your calendars and stay tuned for event updates. We’re currently looking for volunteers and ideas that will help make our Maker Faire even better.
