News release from INDOT:
Union Chapel Road / Diebold Road Intersection Scheduled to Open Friday, August 2
Intersection expected to be open by mid-afternoon
(August 1, 2013) – The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) announces that on Friday, August 2, weather permitting, the intersection of Union Chapel Road and Diebold Road is scheduled to open to traffic by mid-afternoon.
The intersection, which is located approximately 0.4 miles east of I-69, was closed in April 2013 to begin construction of a roundabout for traffic control.
After traffic opens on Union Chapel Road at Diebold Road, there will be a closure of Union Chapel Road at Auburn Road to accommodate construction of a roundabout at this intersection, as well. The Union Chapel Road closure at Auburn Road is expected to begin in mid-August, but the specific date is yet to be determined.
Additionally, construction of the I-69/Union Chapel Road interchange is progressing. The contractor was handling some paving on the northeast ramp (the northbound I-69 on-ramp) today, Thursday, August 1. This interchange is expected to be complete by late summer 2013.
