News release from the Embassy Theatre:
Embassy Theatre ranked 77th worldwide for theatre venues
(July 31, 2013) – Pollstar, a leading concert industry publication, ranked the Fort Wayne Embassy Theatre as No. 77 on its 2013 Mid-Year Top 100 Theatre Venues for ticket sales worldwide.
The Embassy sold 38,413 concert tickets between Jan. 1 and June 30, according to Pollstar.
Auditorio Nacional in Mexico City topped the list followed by the Colosseum At Caesars Palace in Las Vegas and The Royal Albert Hall, London. The Embassy was one of only two Indiana venues to be ranked in the top 100. South Bend’s Morris Theatre ranked 50 on the list.
“From the Broadway series to spring concerts like Matchbox 20 and the Avett Brothers, the Embassy played to full houses night after night,” said Kelly Updike, executive director. “Seeing the seats filled at these events and more, I was not surprised to see our rank. We’ve been listed in the Top 100 several times in the past, even reaching #48 recently. Our goal is to place in the Top 25 consistently, and we are working hard to accomplish that realistic target.”
