Death Investigation
Date/Time of Incident: July 18, 2013 / 12:32 p.m.
Location of Incident: 1700 block of High Street
Victim: Adult Male; pronounced dead at the scene.(July 18, 2013) – On July 18, 2013 at 12:32 p.m., officers of the Fort Wayne Police Department were dispatched to a home in the 1700 block of High Street in reference to a body discovered in the back yard of that home. First responders arrived and medical personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene. The exact cause and manner of death of the victim will be determined by the Allen County Coroner’s Office. The identity of the victim will be confirmed and released by the Allen County Coroner’s Office as well. At this time it is believed that the victim was a resident of the home where his body was discovered.
While detectives were canvassing the neighborhood, many residents in the area provided information about a disturbance in the neighborhood that the victim may have been involved in. At this time it is believed that the victim was involved in a disturbance that occurred late yesterday evening that erupted in the alley, west of the location where his body was discovered. The disturbance had not been reported to police at the time that it occurred. Detectives are attempting to identify the individuals involved in that disturbance so that they may be interviewed. Because this information was received immediately, detectives and crime scene technicians have located the area where that disturbance occurred and they have expanded the scene to include it so that it could be processed for any potential evidence.
