June Mather Lecture focuses on Fort Wayne parks
(May 13, 2013) – History Center Executive Director Todd Maxwell Pelfrey completes the Mather lecture season on June 2 with a look at the “visionary landscape wizard” George Kessler, whose parks and boulevard plan have defined the look of our city.
Pelfrey’s talk is entitled “Fort Wayne’s Park and Boulevard System: A Centennial Perspective”. The History Center’s popular series, named for local historian and Presbyterian pastor George R. Mather, has focused this spring on the history of economic development in Allen County.
All lectures take place at the museum, 302 East Berry, Fort Wayne, at 2 p.m. and are free and open to the public.
In addition to the lecture series, the History Center has expanded its educational offerings with a blog, “History Center Notes and Queries, available at https://historycenterfw.blogspot.com/.
The blog supplements the Mather Lectures and the History Center’s publications such as the “Old Fort News” and provides information for those wishing to know more about our community as they explore the museum and other historical sites in the city and county.
