News release from Congressman Marlin Stutzman (R-IN 3rd):
Stutzman Calls for Offsets to Disaster Aid: “Congress Must Put the People of Oklahoma Ahead of Wasteful Federal Programs”
(May 22, 2013) Washington, D.C. – U.S. Congressman Marlin Stutzman issued the following statement today, calling for offsets to Oklahoma disaster relief:
“My heart breaks for the victims of the tragedy in Oklahoma and Congress has an obligation to help these families rebuild. Congress also has an obligation to have a serious discussion about how we pay for emergency money that the state rightfully deserves. With nearly $17 trillion in debt, Congress must put the people of Oklahoma ahead of wasteful federal programs. Disaster aid is just a small fraction of the $3.6 trillion Washington spends each year but for those in need it’s a lifeline that Congress can easily prioritize in the coming weeks.”
