April UC² Presentation Partners with Remnant Trust
(March 29, 2013) – “Before the King James Bible: English Language and National Identity, 1400-1650” is the title of the next Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) College of Arts and Sciences University Community Conversation (UC²) presentation. The lecture will be Wednesday, April 10 at 7 p.m. in Neff Hall, Room 101.
The public is invited to join UC², the IPFW Medieval Studies program, and the Remnant Trust for a conversation with Damian Fleming, assistant professor of English and coordinator of the Medieval Studies program, and Suzanne LaVere, assistant professor of history, about the evolution of the English language and its relation to national identity. For the pleasure of fans of rare books, part of the Remnant Trust display, an edition of the King James Bible published in 1611, will be at the event for attendees to see and hold.
The theme of the 2013 UC² lecture series is “The Nation.” Each presentation explores a different aspect of the many interpretations of the Nation, looking at themes such as immigration, education, and history. All lectures are free and open to the public.
