Merit Commission Member Opening
IAFF Local 124 Representing Fort Wayne Firefighters is Seeking Candidates
(February 11, 2012) – The Fort Wayne Fire Merit Commission is currently accepting resumes for one open position on the Commission.
The Merit Commission’s responsibilities are to govern the hiring, promotion, evaluation and discipline for the personnel of the Fort Wayne Fire Department. It is comprised of five members, three members appointed by the Mayor and two elected positions by the Union. The current open position is the elected position by the Union.
In order to qualify for the position you must meet the following criteria:
- Must be 21 years of age
- Fort Wayne city resident for at least the last 3 consecutive years
- Voted Republican in the last 3 primary elections. Per Indiana Code, one representative from each party is required to be represented and the current Democratic seat is filled.
- Be of good moral character
- Any interested candidate may not be receiving any remuneration as salary from the City of Fort Wayne
