Date/Time of Incident: November 4, 2012 / 1:22 a.m. (This was the second 1:22 a.m. due to the end of daylight savings time)
Location of Incident: 3401 Fairfield at the Dugout Bar
Victim: Adult Male
On November 3rd at 1:22 a.m., officers of the Fort Wayne Police Department were dispatched to the the Dugout Bar, located at the intersection of Fairfield Aveune and Kinsmoor Aveune, in reference to a stabbing call. Officers discovered an adult male on the sidewalk, near the rear door of the Dugout Bar. The male appeared to suffer from a severe injuries. Medics arrived on scene and the victim was transported to a local hospital in critical condition. The victim was later pronounced dead shortly after arrival at the hospital.
Witnesses reported that there had a been a fight inside the bar between several subjects. One of the subjects involved in the fight was the victim. Witness stated the fight was broken up by people inside the bar and after the fight the management decided to close for the night and requested that everyone leave the bar. Witnesses stated the fight then continued just outside of the bar and that an adult male fled the scene. We do not have a reported direction of travel at this time.
Detectives, representatives of the Allen County Coroner’s Office and Allen County Prosecutor’s Office were notified and arrived to investigate. More information is expected after an autopsy is performed.
The name of the victim will be released by the Allen County Coroner’s Office. Also, the exact cause and manner of death will be determined by the Allen County Coroner’s Office.
