News release from the Fort Wayne Fire Department:
FWFD: House fire at 429 West Maplegrove
Fire crews were dispatched on a reported house fire at 429 West Maplegrove Avenue.
Upon arrival rear of structure was fully involved extending to the siding of the houses on both sides of the structure. Home suffered extensive damage. Occupant stated he was in the front room of the house and felt heat on the back of his neck. He turned around to see the rear of the house involved. He and his spouse self evacuated and called the fire deptartment.
Multiple crew had to be called in for overhaul due to oppressive heat. There were no injuries
