Shooting Investigation
Date/Time of Incident: June 23rd, 2012 at 9:00 P.M.
Location of Incident: Corner of South Hanna Street and East Leith Street
Victim: Male Adult
Details: On Saturday, June 23rd, 2012 at approximately 9:00 p.m. officers with the Fort Wayne Police Department were dispatched to the area of South Hanna Street and East Leith Street in reference to a shooting investigation.
As Officers and Paramedics arrived on the scene, they located a male adult victim suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Paramedics provided medical attention to the victim before transporting him to a local hospital in serious condition.
A Fort Wayne Police Officer was conducting a traffic stop at the corner of South Hanna Street and East Leith Street on a moped. During the traffic stop, a brief foot pursuit took place and shots were fired. The male adult fleeing from the moped suffered a gunshot wound. A gun was found in the immediate area of the incident.
This incident remains under investigation by the Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office.
