Freeze Watch issued for Monday night

The National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Watch for our area:

URGENT – WEATHER MESSAGE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NORTHERN INDIANA
1034 AM EDT SUN MAR 25 2012

…SUB FREEZING TEMPERATURES POSSIBLE MONDAY NIGHT…

.AFTER AN EXTENDED STRETCH OF UNSEASONABLY WARM WEATHER THE LAST TWO WEEKS MANY PLANTS HAVE BUDDED OUT ACROSS THE AREA. THIS EARLY
BUDDING ESPECIALLY WITH FRUIT TREES MEANS PLANTS ARE VERY VULNERABLE TO FREEZING CONDITIONS.

COLD HIGH PRESSURE IS FORECAST TO BUILD SOUTHEASTWARD OUT OF CANADA ON MONDAY AND INTO THE EASTERN LAKES BY TUESDAY MORNING.
CLEAR SKIES AND LIGHT WINDS MONDAY EVENING WILL LEAD TO RAPID TEMPERATURE DROPS OVERNIGHT WITH LOWS IN THE UPPER 20S TO LOWER
30S AND POTENTIALLY COLDER.

[…] …FREEZE WATCH REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM LATE MONDAY NIGHT THROUGH TUESDAY MORNING…

HAZARDOUS WEATHER…

* TEMPERATURES FALLING TO BELOW FREEZING FOR SEVERAL HOURS LATE MONDAY NIGHT.

IMPACTS…

* NEWLY BUDDED PLANTS ARE VERY SUSCEPTIBLE TO DAMAGE WITH SUB FREEZING TEMPERATURES.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…

A FREEZE WATCH MEANS SUB-FREEZING TEMPERATURES ARE POSSIBLE. THESE CONDITIONS COULD KILL CROPS AND OTHER SENSITIVE VEGETATION.
