IPFW Offers New Twists to Annual Three Rivers Festival Ice Cream Social

Bring a chair or blanket and enjoy a cool treat on a warm summer evening at this annual favorite event. Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) will again host the Three Rivers Festival Ice Cream Social, Monday, July 11, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Science Mall (center of campus). This year, new twists to the tradition are sure to please. The ice cream social is open to the public and admission and parking are free. Ice cream is 50 cents per scoop and other refreshments will be available for additional fees.

As always, the social will offer tasty ice cream and the classic sounds of the Fort Wayne Area Community Band. New this year, the FIXX
Barbershop Quartet will stroll around the grounds before the band concert and entertain the crowd with old-fashioned, four-part harmony. Want to wet your whistle and enjoy an ice cream treat? Also new to this year’s social, Woman of the World (WOW) student organization will offer root beer for root beer floats as well as other beverages. These will cost an additional fee.

IPFW’s Dancing Dons dance team will also make their debut appearance at the IPFW Ice Cream Social, dancing to music provided by the Fort Wayne Area Community Band. The Northeast Indiana Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (NISTEM) Resource Center will have the NISTEM Express truck there with some hands-on STEM fun and information.

Please note the north portion of the IPFW campus is under construction. The Saint Joe Road north campus entrance is closed. Patrons should enter campus from the Crescent Avenue and Coliseum Boulevard entrances and park in Parking Garage 1. Visit ipfw.edu/about/maps-directions for a campus map.
