News release from the Paula Hughes for Mayor campaign:
Sheriff Ken Fries endorses Paula Hughes
Highlights Support of Hughes for Mayor in Radio Ad and Mailer
(April 7, 2011) – Allen County Sheriff Ken Fries endorsed Fort Wayne Republican mayoral candidate Paula Hughes and lent his support in a campaign mailer and the campaign’s first radio ad.
“As a member of county council, Paula Hughes demonstrated the traits necessary to be a great mayor,” Sheriff Fries said. “We need a candidate that shares our values and can win the mayor’s race in November. Paula Hughes is that candidate.”
In a recent mailer endorsing the Hughes mayoral candidacy, Sheriff Fries said Paula Hughes fought the wheel tax and “is the only candidate brave enough to sign the ‘no new taxes’ pledge.” He also highlighted his full support of Paula Hughes.
In the radio ad, Fries said Hughes is “Fort Wayne’s proven conservative leader.” Sheriff Fries also talked about Paula’s leadership on county council and her ability to take the county from debt to surplus while protecting taxpayers.
Former Allen County Council President Paula Hughes expressed her gratitude for the Sheriff’s support.
“I am honored to have the support of a great public servant like Ken Fries,” Hughes said. “Sheriff Fries protects our community and has our best interest at heart. For him to endorse my campaign in such a public way is humbling. With his help, we will win the Republican primary and return conservative values to City Hall in 2012.”
“There is no doubt Paula Hughes will make a great mayor of Fort Wayne. I am asking city Republicans to cast their ballot for her on May 3rd,” Fries said.
