Saturday, April 16, 9:30 – 11:30 am
Rebecca Goetz, interior designer and owner of “Design 1, Interiors,” and Indiana Master Gardener Jennifer Mayhall show you how to plant your own professional-looking arrangement of seasonal plants and flowers in a delightful spring basket that will provide color and fragrance long after traditional cut flower arrangements have wilted away. When the weather warms, you can transplant the bulbs outside. We’ll provide everything you need, but you may want to bring your own gloves, hand trowel, and any decorative elements you would like to include. Ages 14 – Adult. Registration deadline: April 8. Fee: $34 (Conservatory Member $28). To register, call (260) 427-6011 or go online at www.fortwayneparks.org.Botanical Brown Bag – Toad Abodes
Thursday, April 28, 12 – 1 pm
Far from being ugly, warty pests that don’t turn into princes no matter how often you kiss them, toads are actually a wonderful addition to any garden. Just one adult toad can eat over 10,000 pesky insects in a single summer! In this program, Conservatory staff and volunteers will help you build your own starter home for your new amphibious acquaintances out of an old clay flowerpot. You can then decorate it with supplies we have on hand, or you can bring your own shells, stones or other small items to make it uniquely your own. Free coffee and tea. No reservations needed. Conservatory admission applies: $5/adult, $3/child ages 3-17. (Members free.)
