Registration under way for spring programs at the Helen P. Brown Natatorium

Registration is under way for spring swim lessons, water exercise classes and lifeguard training at the Helen P. Brown Natatorium, 3601 S. Calhoun St.

Swim lessons at the Natatorium are offered to children beginning at age 3 with the parent tot program and go through adults with the adult and teen swim class. American Red Cross school-age swim lessons are offered to children ages 6 and up. Classes meet once a week for eight weeks beginning Monday, March 7. There are no classes during Fort Wayne Community Schools’ spring break, April 4-9.

Shallow water and deep water cardio classes are offered twice a week. New this year is a mommy and me fitness class for adults and children ages 6-36 months. Exercise classes begin Monday, March 7, and last eight weeks. There are no classes during Fort Wayne Community Schools’ spring break, April 4-9.

Also available at the Natatorium is the International Lifeguard Training Program by Ellis & Associates. The certification includes CPR, First Aid and water rescue techniques. Participants must be at least 15 years old and must be able to swim 200 yards using the front crawl and breaststroke, dive for a 10-pound brick and tread water for two minutes with legs only. Classes are held in May and June.
