Ivy Tech Will Remember the Past with Black History Month Celebration on February 17
(February 14, 2011) – Northeast, the Office of Diversity Affairs, and the Multicultural Student Organization will celebrate Black History Month on Thursday, February 17, 2011, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with an event titled “Remembering Our Past, Celebrating the Future” at the Student Life Center on the Ivy Tech-Northeast’s North Campus (4900 St. Joe Rd.) in Room SL513.
Saneta Maiko, founder and executive director at Crime Victim Care of Allen County, will be the keynote speaker. Maiko has published many articles and a book on African youth, and he has reviewed more than 15 books on Christianity, Islam, Slavery, and Colonialism, He is a member of the International Association for the Study of Youth Ministry, the American Society of Missiology, the Association of Third World Studies, the American Academy of Religion, the Association of African Studies, and the American Historical Association. Maiko is also a member of several boards and organizations in the Fort Wayne community.
