Statement from Chairman Eric Holcomb on President Obama’s budget proposal

(February 14, 2011) – “Governor Mitch Daniels, during his speech at CPAC this past weekend, described the “instruction” sent from the American people to their elected representatives in the 2010 election cycle to stop the spending and get us back on a sustainable fiscal path. Instead of completing the “generational assignment” given to him, President Obama has proposed to spend us to yet another record deficit in 2011 and send an already staggering $14 trillion in debt to over $20 trillion in ten years.

“President Obama’s budget-cutting rhetoric doesn’t match up with his budget-busting proposals. We should aim to battle the ‘Red Menace’ of ballooning red ink, not embolden it.

“There was no uncertainty to the chorus of voters demanding an end to the deficit spending ways of Washington in the last election. President Obama has again ignored the wishes of a growing majority of Americans and instead caved to more government spending. We need to address our shared fiscal irresponsibility head-on. Without meaningful action, future generations of Americans will be stuck with a massive tab from a spending binge they won’t be able to pay.”
