Stutzman reacts to State of the Union

A little late, but worth while nonetheless. Press release from Congressman Marlin Stutzman’s office:

Stutzman Reacts to State of the Union

(Washington, DC, January 25, 2011) – Today, Congressman Stutzman (IN-03) voted to reduce spending and to begin the process of controlling the National Debt. H. Res. 38 will require the House Committee on the Budget, of which Congressman Stutzman is a member, to set the non-security budget allocation levels for the remainder of FY 2011 at FY 2008 levels or less. Later he sat with other members of the Indiana Congressional Delegation to hear President Obama’s State of the Union speech and released this statement:

“The House started the day by beginning the process to get our Nation back on strong economic footing. The Budget Committee will have much to do in the coming weeks to lower spending for this year. I am pleased that President Obama has stated his belief in the need for fiscal responsibility. Yet, he has kept to the agenda of spending and deficits, now is not the time for more rhetoric but for action by lowering the deficit to allow for prosperity and job growth.”

Congressman Stutzman represents the 3rd Congressional District of Indiana and serves on the House Committee on Agriculture, the House Committee on the Budget and the House Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, Subcommittee on Economic Opportunity. Indiana’s 3rd District contains all of DeKalb, Kosciusko, Lagrange, Noble, Steuben, and Whitley counties; as well as parts of Allen and Elkhart counties.
