Parks & Recreation Closings and Cancellations
Lakeside Pond ClosedDue to the expected inclement weather, all the after school youth programs, Community Center programs and Botanical Conservatory programs are canceled for this evening.
The Community Center will close at 4:30 pm this evening, the Botanical Conservatory will close at 5 pm, and Weisser, Jennings and Cooper Centers will also close at 5 pm this evening.
Lakeside Pond is now closed for ice skating. The snow accumulation on the pond is insulating the ice and making it unsafe.
The Department’s inclement weather policy states:
“If Fort Wayne Community Schools close due to inclement weather, all Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation classes will also be canceled. When there is a school delay, all classes will run at the regularly scheduled times.
“If the Mayor declares a snow emergency, all Parks and Recreation facilities and programs will be closed or canceled.”
