Stutzman Votes to Cut Office Budget

Press release from Indiana 3rd Congressional District Congressman Marlin Stutzman’s office:

Stutzman Votes to Cut Office Budget

(Washington, DC – January 6, 2011) – Congressman Marlin Stutzman voted today for a 5% cut to Congress. This budget cut will apply to all Leadership Offices, Committees and to Member’s offices. By voting for this resolution Congressman Stutzman has helped to cut $35 million from the 2011 budget alone.

“Cutting the budget for my own office is just the start, this is only a beginning to the spending cuts in Congress.” Stutzman said “We must find a way to stop the growth of the deficit and bring federal spending under control. I look forward to working with Chairman Ryan, as the Budget Committee takes on the responsibility of bringing non-security spending to 2008 levels.”

It is time for the people to know that they are not alone when it comes to surviving hard economic times. Before asking any agency to do with less, the House of Representatives took the lead to cut spending and start down the road to fiscal responsibility.

Congressman Stutzman represents the 3rd Congressional District of Indiana. The 3rd District contains all of DeKalb, Kosciusko, Lagrange, Noble, Steuben, and Whitley counties; as well as parts of Allen and Elkhart counties.
