Press release from Parkview Hospital:
Kohl’s and Parkview partner to assist TinCap Kids program
(August 27, 2010) – Kohl’s Department Stores and Parkview Hospital Foundation today announced a sponsorship of the Fort Wayne TinCap Kids program, the official kids’ club of the Fort Wayne TinCaps. The Kohl’s Healthy Kids Quiz will be launched at tonight’s TinCaps game at Parkview Field. A selected parent and child will take a short, fun quiz with the help of game attendees for the chance to win Kohl’s Cares® merchandise. Additionally, the entire crowd will be able to participate in the quiz via texting. From those who text the correct answer, a random winner will be selected to win additional Kohl’s Cares® merchandise.
The Kohl’s Healthy Kids Quiz, which will focus on the importance of proper nutrition and fitness, will continue through the remainder of the 2010 season and the 2011 season. The quiz is part of a broader program that teaches children the benefits of healthy eating and fitness. Kohl’s Department Store, through the Kohl’s Cares® cause merchandise program, has donated $62,182 to Parkview for the program.
This year marks the fourth year for the Kohl’s Healthy Kids program in the Fort Wayne area. Parkview became one of Kohl’s hospital partners in 2001. Since then, Kohl’s has gifted nearly $800,000 to Parkview Hospital pediatric programs.
Kohl’s commitment to Parkview is made possible through the Kohl’s Cares® cause merchandise program. Through this initiative, Kohl’s sells $5 books and plush toys where 100 percent of net profit benefits children’s health and education programs nationwide, including hospital partnerships like this one. Kohl’s has raised more than $150 million through this merchandise program. In addition, Kohl’s Cares features a scholarship program, which recognizes more than 2,100 young volunteers with a total of $410,000 in scholarships and prizes this year; the Associates in Action program, which encourages associate volunteerism and provided more than $10 million in grants to youth-focused nonprofit organizations last year alone; and fundraising gift cards for schools and youth-serving organizations.
