Press release from the Tom Hayhurst for Congress campaign:
Hayhurst announces plans for Veterans Tour
(August 27, 2010) – Democratic Congressional candidate Dr. Tom Hayhurst has released new details of his Veterans Tour in Indiana’s third district. Hayhurst will be discussing his policy positions on Veterans issues during this tour.
The tour will be kicking off Sunday, August 29 at the American Legion 82 at 4 PM where he will be discussing veterans’ issues and services and how he plans on addressing these issues. Hayhurst served his country in the United States Air Force reaching the rank of Major during the Vietnam War-era. A top priority of Hayhurst is to make sure that our veterans receive the best quality medical care and benefits, and in a prompt and respectful manner. Hayhurst co-founded Veterans for Better Health Care, which is a local organization dedicated to supporting area veterans and maintaining essential services at the local VA Hospital. The group organized veterans to assert their right to health care, pressured elected officials to stand up for their constituent war heroes, and publicized the iniquity of denying veterans the care they deserved. He is also committed to ensuring they have opportunities to pursue an education and job after their service is over.
“Men and women in uniform risk everything to preserve our freedom, and they deserve every opportunity to get a quality education and a good job when their time to serve is over.”
