Parkview Physicians’ Group to add gastroenterology and pulmonary physicians

(June 29, 2010) – Several physicians from Indiana Medical Associates (IMA) will be joining Parkview Physicians’ Group (PPG). The IMA Sleep Center will also be part of the new partnership. A physician-led and physician-governed division of Parkview Health, PPG was developed to enhance the delivery of quality health care services.

The physicians joining PPG specialize in gastroenterology and pulmonary services. The gastroenterology physicians are Dr. Allan Barbish, Dr. David Clark, Dr. Tahira Saifuddin, Dr. R. Gregory Scheible, and Dr. Edward Schultz.

The pulmonary physicians are Dr. Srinivasan Devanathan, Dr. John Fouts, Dr. Vatche Israbian, Dr. Manuel Martinez, Dr. Michael Overdahl, and Dr. Brian Zehr.

The new arrangement provides opportunities for more cost-effective quality care through the shared efficiencies of a larger practice. “Parkview Physicians’ Group continues to grow as we work to meet the needs of patients throughout the region,” said Mike Packnett, president and CEO, Parkview Health. “The expansion of gastroenterology and pulmonary specialty services will benefit patients and enhance access to care. The physicians that are joining Parkview share our commitment of patient-centered care and improving the health of the communities we serve.” PPG physicians are not limited to practicing at Parkview facilities. Operation under the new agreement with the IMA Sleep Center is expected to begin on August 1. Operation under the new agreement with the physicians is expected to begin on September 1. PPG was established in 2009 and has 200 providers.
