Press release from Parkview Hospital:
Parkview Don’t Text & Drive vehicle unveiled at Evans Toyota
The Parkview Trauma Centers’ Don’t Text & Drive Toyota Scion was unveiled today at Evans Toyota on West Coliseum Boulevard.
Evans Toyota is providing the vehicle to Parkview to help promote trauma education and inform the public about the dangers of texting and driving.
“We are very appreciative of the donation from Evans Toyota,” said Dr. Mary Aaland, medical director, Parkview Trauma Centers. “The generosity displayed by Evans Toyota will allow us to enhance our Don’t Text & Drive message and reach more people. We are committed to improving the health of the communities we serve. The Don’t Text & Drive campaign is important, and we want to save lives by educating all drivers.”
Additional Don’t Text & Drive partners attended today’s event to discuss how their organizations are assisting with the community outreach campaign. Partners include Hot 107.9, Lassus Brothers, Mark Fore Sales, Indiana State Police, Diveeta Thompson, and Andrea Hans, INEX Legends car racing.
Parkview officials today encouraged the public to show their support for the program by displaying a Don’t Text & Drive air freshener in their vehicle. Don’t Text & Drive air fresheners are available for sale at Lassus Brothers Handy Dandy stores in northeast Indiana, Evans Toyota, Mark Fore Sales, Parkview Hospital and Parkview North Hospital gift shops, and the Parkview Safety Store. Proceeds from the sale of air fresheners go to the Parkview Foundation’s Trauma Prevention Fund.
Parkview Hospital launched the Don’t Text & Drive campaign in February 2009. Parkview’s Don’t Text & Drive program includes billboards, signage at Glenbrook Square Mall, public service announcements on television and radio, and education outreach to area high schools.
