FWCS appoints new St. Joseph Central principal

The Fort Wayne Community Schools Board of School Trustees on Monday, May 24, approved the appointment of a new principal for St. Joseph Central Elementary School for the 2010-11 school year.

William Critell, who is currently the principal at Price Elementary, will replace Ted Davis, who has retired. Davis began his career in education at Washington Center Elementary School as a sixth-grade teacher in 1972. He worked at Northcrest, Hoagland and Fairfield elementary schools before becoming acting principal of Haley Elementary in 1987. He then spent a year as principal of Whitney Young Elementary before taking over at St. Joseph Central in 1989.

Critell began his career in education as a teacher at Memorial Park in 1977. He also worked as a teacher at McCulloch, Forest Park, Fairfield and Lincoln elementary schools before taking his first administrative position at Washington and Study elementary schools in 1993. The following year, Critell became principal of Bloomingdale Elementary where he stayed for 11 years. In 2005, he took over as principal at Price.
