Press release from Fort Wayne Community Schools, dated April 27, 2010:
FWCS approves contract with bus drivers
The Fort Wayne Community Schools Board of School Trustees approved a two-year agreement with the district’s bus drivers.
The agreement makes no changes in pay or benefits but does allow the benefits agreement to automatically re-open for negotiation if there is a change in benefits for other employee groups. The contract also allows evaluations to be conducted at any time based on employee performance and allows the probation period to be extended to a maximum of 90 days.
“After more than four years without a contract, we are happy to have an agreement,” Superintendent Dr. Wendy Robinson said. “We value the service of our bus drivers and appreciate their dedication to our students.”
The last contract with bus drivers expired on Dec. 31, 2005.
