Press release from the Downtown Improvement District:

The Downtown Improvement District and the City of Fort Wayne Partner to Provide Outdoor Public Seating this Summer

The Downtown Improvement District and the City of Fort Wayne are once again partnering with AEP to provide more public seating in urban spaces in downtown Fort Wayne this summer. Twenty black moveable chairs were set up in the courtyard of One Summit Square last week to benefit the public as temperatures increase.

Last year the DID worked with AEP in order to have the chairs placed in the courtyard during the summer months. Due to the great reception from downtown visitors and workers last year, the DID has put the chairs out early this season, where they will remain in the courtyard for the entire summer.

The seating will be a great addition to the summer events happening on One Summit Square. Lunch on the Square, the annual DID lunch concert series, will start June 3 and continue every Thursday throughout the months of June and July.

Lunch on the Square was developed to provide downtown workers with an uplifting atmosphere of music and entertainment during the lunch hour. Each Thursday a different musical act will perform. Attendees are encouraged to purchase boxed lunches from downtown area restaurants to bring to each concert. Some of the summer concerts include Good Night Gracie, Ty Causey and Dan Smyth Trio.
