Local Radio Broadcasting Icon Bob Chase Named Honorary Chair
The American Red Cross of Northeast Indiana will hold its 15th annual golf tournament to benefit local program services on Wednesday, May 19 at Cobblestone Golf Course in Kendallville, Indiana. Cobblestone is an award-winning, championship golf course recently featured on the cover of the 2008 Indiana State Golf and Travel Guide.
In addition, the Red Cross is excited to announce that Fort Wayne local radio broadcasting icon Bob Chase will serve as honorary chair for the event, participating in both the golf outing and dinner in the evening. Chase spent 56 years at WOWO 1190AM, serving as sports director, general on-air voice, and afternoon show host before he retired in June, 2009. Chase continues to call Komet hockey games as he has done for the past 57 seasons.
Registration check-in for the golf outing and lunch will begin at 11:00am with a shotgun start at 12:30pm. A dinner buffet and silent auction will follow the day’s 4-person scramble tournament at 5:30pm. All players will receive cart and greens fee for 18 holes, team picture, tickets for door prizes, as well as prizes for various greens contests throughout the afternoon.
