Press release from the Allen County Board of Commissioners:

Maplecrest Extension Groundbreaking Set for Apr. 19

The Allen County Board of Commissioners today announced a groundbreaking ceremony will take place on Monday, April 19, to celebrate the official start of construction work on the largest infrastructure project in the history of Allen County – the Maplecrest Road Extension.

The ceremony will begin at 10:00 a.m. at a site to the west of Do-It-Best world headquarters at 6502 Nelson Road, Fort Wayne. Signs will be posted.

The project features construction of 1.5 miles of new four-lane roadway extending from Maplecrest south, across the Maumee River to Adams Center Road. The project will include four new bridges and two grade separated railroad crossings. Work on the entire project is scheduled to be finished by the fall of 2012.

“This highly-anticipated project will improve accessibility, mobility and safety along the corridor while also generating significant economic benefits for our county,” said Linda Bloom, president of the Board of Commissioners.

  1. Why don’t they hold this “opening” by turning some of the “processed human waste” that this unnecessary, money burning, un-conservative project will be crossing? Will signs be included that recommed keeping your vehicle windows closed to keep out the stench of this mis-use of tax revenues as you transverse this very expensive 1.5 miles??? Can the three commissioneers even remember how many dollors per mile this is costing? Supposed to be “for access to I-469” Both ends already access I-469 – so how is this helping? – It isn’t, guys – it just isn’t!
