Press release from the TinCaps dated March 8th:

Parkview Field Concourse Partially Closed for Sealing
Portions of concourse to be closed through March 23rd

One month out from Opening Day – April 8, 2010 – the Fort Wayne TinCaps continue to prepare Parkview Field for the upcoming season. One vital part of the preparations include sealing the concourse, which will protect the concrete, allow for easier cleaning, and promote the longevity of the ballpark’s busy walkways. This work began today and will continue through Tuesday, March 23rd.

“Sealing and protecting the concourse is just one of many steps being taken to ensure the longevity, utility, and attractiveness of Parkview Field,” stated TinCaps President, Mike Nutter. “The weather improving provides the window of opportunity to seal the concourse before the season begins in just a few short weeks.”

The concourse closure will not allow for a full lap of Parkview Field to be completed on the 1/3rd of a mile walkway. “The warm weather has already brought out the lunch-time walkers,” said Nutter. “Hopefully they will understand that a few weeks of concourse closure will allow for many years of
clean and attractive walking well into the future.”

The North and East gates to Parkview Field will continue to be open from 7:00am until dusk throughout the sealing process. Areas affected by the closure will be clearly marked; no through traffic will be allowed in areas where work is being done. Those visiting the TinCaps Administrative Office along Ewing Street, the Parkview Field Ticket Office, or the TinCaps Team Store will not be affected. For more information please contact the TinCaps Administrative Office by call (260) 482-6400.
