Press release from Parkview Health:
Parkview to host parent-teen driving contract seminar
(February 25, 2010) In an effort to help area parents promote safe driving practices with their teenagers, Parkview’s Adult and Pediatric Trauma Centers will host a Parent-Teen Driving Contract Seminar from 7-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 10 at the Parkview Corporate Office Auditorium, 10501 Corporate Dr.
At the seminar, parents and teens will receive an outline of topics related to driving and an opportunity to develop their own driving contract. Developing a driving contract with thoughtful discussion can reduce the conflict when parents have to enforce consequences if teens break established rules.
Benefits of a teen driver contract include:
- Defines ground rules for driving
- Reduces conflict if rules are broken
- Promotes safe driving habits
Alex Antalis, MD, will be the featured speaker at the seminar. He will present teen-parent contract guidelines and 10 Safe Driving Tips for Teens. Dr. Antalis practices with Professional Emergency Physicians and treats patients at Parkview Hospital’s emergency room.
A door prize drawing will award an iPod® to a teenager participating in the seminar. Although the clinic is free, parents and their teens are requested to pre-register by calling (866) 784-6706.
The event is sponsored by the Parkview Trauma Center and WANE-TV NewsChannel 15.
