Downtown GOP Club to hold forum on open government featuring Indiana Public Access Counselor Andrew Kossack and local government officials
(February 5, 2010) The Downtown GOP Club of Fort Wayne will host an open government forum with Indiana Public Access Counselor Andrew Kossack on February 17, 2010 at 11:30 a.m. at Allen County Republican Headquarters. Kossack will be joined by County Council President Paula Hughes, County Commissioner Bill Brown, City Councilman Mitch Harper, and County Recorder John McGauley in a discussion regarding public access issues in local government.
“We appreciate Mr. Kossack taking time to travel to Fort Wayne and discuss these important issues with our Club. I think this will benefit officeholders and further the Club’s interest in promoting good government,” said Renee Rousseau, president of the Downtown GOP Club.
Among the issues to be discussed include common challenges faced by office holders with regard to the public access laws, local government initiatives to enhance public access, and the impact of proposed reforms on open government laws—notably, the Open Door Law on a singular county executive.
Casey Cox, moderator of the Club commented on the civic nature of the event, “These issues, generally, have been a topic of discussion in our community over the past couple of years, and we think it’s an important part of our civic education.”
